The Land of Damien Chazelle does the unthinkable La La Land: it is a musical landed in reality. The bombastic genre, in which the laws dictate that everyone can dance and share their emotions with songs, finds it difficult to anchor in verisimilitude. But the feature film by Chazelle, the director of Whiplash, presents a familiar world. Although it will be released in major cinemas across the country on December 25, it is also at the Stoned film festival in Bogotá on December 3 and 4.
The issues facing the central couple, played by Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, whose chemistry is more than proven (they have starred in several films together), are known and common. In their fights there are no easy solutions, no villains, only two real people faced by gages of life.
